Couldn't You Just Do It For Me?

"I'm locked inside the storage space. I know it says they close at seven, but I didn't think they would close at seven."

"Oh!!!!!"

"Are you writing about this?"

"No."

(Five minutes later.)

"Okay. I called the emergency number. They're opening the gate."

"Ohhhhhh."

"Well, sorry to ruin such a great story for your blog."

"Are you sure you can get out?"

  1. LOLOLOLOL... Are you okay? How did they lock you in?

Now that I think about it - you could have gotten some nice uninterrupted sleep....

hmmm. you might be onto something.

  2. I was always terrified this would happen to me when I went to my storage space. I had all of my worldly belongings stored away for a long time when I was a teenager and I'd go in there to find one thing and would end up sitting for an hour on the floor reading old love notes from past boyfriends. I'd totally lose track of time.

    I think Kristen's on to something...uninterrupted sleep...

  3. That would have been a GREAT story for the blog. Oh well. There's always next time.

  4. It sounds like Hubby was locked in, instead of you. In which case, why couldn't he just chill out and be stuck for a while, perhaps with a pack of Dobermans baying at him while he climbed on top of something? I mean, really, it's the least he could have done, so that you could get a fully fleshed out entry from it. Men.

  5. It might've been a little leaner than you'd hoped, but it STILL made a good blog post!

    (Those damned emergency numbers.)

  7. Contrary: Yes, it was my husband that was locked in there. Thanks for clarifying.

(Cold and heartless enough to turn an unfortunate incident into fodder for the internet masses? That's all me.)

  8. Well, I am glad he got out okay. But I remember that episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond" where he rented a storage space, put in a couch and a TV, and started going there at night to relax. Hope your husband didn't get the same idea!

  9. So funny. You know I always thought it would be cool to be locked in a library as a kid. A storage place might not be as fun.

  11. Heh heh. Yeah, if it were my husband I'd *so* be writing about it too. :-)

  12. Only spouses of Bloggers have to say things like

"You can't put this on the blog" - knowing full damn well that this is the invitation to write about it.

And I will work on the "Elegy to my Midriff Roll" for you

  13. Doesn't he understand what GREAT blog fodder that is?! Sometimes I feel like a reporter. I'll ask people to repeat things just so I can be sure to memorize them correctly. Blogging has totally warped my perception on life. hehe

  14. If I had a nickel for every time my husband has asked if this was going on the blog...

I love that it was the first question he asked though. Too funny.

  16. Irreverent Husband came bounding into the kitchen a few days ago...sporting a new facial hair-do! With sincere curiosity he asked, "does this look gay?" To which I replied, "first of all...need you ask? And second...I'm sooooo bloggin' about this!"

The look on his face was priceless! (And, I might need intervention soon! Since I started blogging, I see my world in terms of whether or not any given experience is blog-worthy!)

  17. It's crazy where bloggers get the inspiration for our posts. I'm always wondering which of my daily encounters are bloggable or not. Good for you for getting your husband into the same habit.

  18. when a situation starts going the wrong way, i'm constantly saying to myself, "remember this for the blog, remember this..."

glad you didn't have to spend the night in the storage facility, but what a great story that would have made. no wait, a great screenplay.

  19. Some days I hope and pray that something like this happens in my life - just so I can blog about.
I really need to reevaluate my priorities.
